LANGUAGE PRESERVATION
The core components of the platform include:
Our platform not only seeks to document linguistic features, but also fosters cultural pride and empowers indigenous communities by equipping them with tools to preserve and propagate their heritage while gaining digital skills.
Advanced speech recognition and synthesis
Enables transcription and vocal generation for indigenous languages with unique phonologies.
Interactive language learning modules
AI-powered, personalized exercises for vocabulary building, grammar understanding, and pronunciation practice.
Cultural integration
Holistic preservation of oral traditions, stories, and cultural practices alongside language.
Community-centered design
Tools for indigenous speakers to contribute, annotate, and manage their linguistic heritage.
Scalability
A modular approach that allows the platform to adapt to other endangered languages globally.
3 STEPS
How it works?
1. Data
We collaborate with local communities to record audio from native speakers, documenting words, phrases, stories, and oral traditions. These recordings are securely stored in a digital archive to ensure preservation.
2. Artificial Intelligence
We use advanced natural language processing and speech recognition technologies to train a model that understands, transcribes, and translates the endangered language. This includes identifying unique phonologies and linguistic patterns.
3. Learning
The platform transforms audio and transcriptions into dynamic learning tools. Users can listen to authentic pronunciations, practice vocabulary, and explore cultural richness through interactive modules.
About the project
Training language models with high-quality data rooted in ancestral knowledge to develop systems that are more robust and capable of better understanding the world.
Language extinction is a crisis, with over 40% of the world’s 7,000 languages at risk. Every lost language represents an irreplaceable loss of culture, knowledge, and identity. By combining technology and community-driven efforts, our platform aims to reverse this trend and create a scalable solution for global language preservation, while providing an example of meaningful use of AI. We plan to launch the first version of our AI-powered indigenous language preservation platform by March 2025. This initial version will include core features such as speech recognition, interactive language learning modules, and cultural storytelling integration. A prototype of the Zapara language will be ready by the end of this year (2025) to demonstrate its feasibility and functionality.
